First Year Competition

Dance mom fun! This year was my daughter’s first year in the company at Studio 203 in Killeen, Tx. It is great seeing her do what she loves and traveling to different parts of Texas with her. One thing for sure being a dance mom you got to know how to plan and be organized to make everything run as smoothly as possible.  Plan for traveling expenses like gas, hotels, and food. Packing snacks and lunch on ice can cut down on a lot of travel costs. Plan to have extra tights just in case the pair you get a hole in a pair. Check and double-check the packing list your dance studio sends home with your little one and you should be fine.

It can be a stressful time, but it’s great when your dance studio and other dance parents are like your extended family. I had an almost meltdown because this is my first year and one of the moms calmed me down and stepped in to assist. Teamwork makes the dream work. Time is very important to pay attention to the times so that you will be in the right place in time to perform. The hotel reservations that we made were always near where we will perform to make sure that we would be there on time. If its somewhere were we didn’t need to stay in a hotel then we would plan enough time with possible traffic and stuff and leave in enough time to get to the performance destination on time.
