Welcome back #fitfam, today we’re going to talk about mental health and wellness. I want to use today’s space as a virtual check-in to ensure that anyone reading this article knows there is an outlet to express frustrations and concerns that may be going on. That includes the basics such as issues finding consistency, issues with execution of exercises, diet concerns, etc. As I’ve mentioned in several previous columns, a foundational piece of my program and approach is getting mentally set to be the best version of yourself before you attempt any changes. This applies to every aspect of life…parenting – when possible, you want to make sure you’re mentally prepared to be a parent, college – knowing for certain you are ready for the rigours of adult life while pursuing education, marriage – preparing for sharing everything in your orbit with a partner…you have to prep yourself for the changes.

While managing these thoughts, its often too hard to process everything internally, so getting it out can really pay off. Let’s use this space for that…

I’ll go first by saying that as of late, its been a bit harder finding motivation to go hard in the gym at times. I am physically able to reach that level but it feels like rolling a boulder uphill when trying to build momentum in a workout. I think the issue is that I usually have a physical target or goal and in recent months I just don’t have one. So now I’m just working my routine and my workouts are a bit meh more often than I’d like. I’m strongly considering a workout buddy these days, at least temporarily.

Would love to hear from you all on the subject…

My wish is that my advice will inspire and drive you to the next level, please enjoy these tips!

Here’s some general pieces of equipment I recommend you gather to create a solid DIY kit that will cost you $60 or less – a lifetime of equipment for the cost of a 3-month gym membership:
