Meta-title: 10 First Date Ideas That Go Beyond Dinner And Movie | Just For The Hill Of It
Meta-description: Having dinner and movie on your first date? No way! Here’s what you can instead do on your first date to set the stage for fun, romance, and intimacy…
Ah, the first date. It brings with it the excitement, anticipation, and a touch of anxiety and nerves. Not to mention the endless possibilities that comes with meeting someone new.
What comes to your mind when you think about going on a first date?
Having dinner and movie? We’ve all been there and done that. While it may be the go-to choice of many, the fact is that it doesn’t really cut it anymore. Simply because it’s just not exciting enough and doesn’t really help you stand out and make a lasting impression.
So, what can you do on your first date to set the stage for fun, connection, romance, and intimacy?
Here are 10 first date ideas that will help you break-free from the ordinary and sweep your date of their feet.
Indulge In Romantic Outdoor Picnic Bliss
All you need to do is pack your favorite snacks, sandwiches, and a cozy blanket and find a scenic spot in a local part. It’s a simple yet intimate date that will help you connect meaningfully and relax all while enjoying nature’s beauty.
Trek to Togetherness
Nothing beats the outdoors. Embark on a nature hike together, be it on a nearby trail or a picturesque forest path. Hiking will enable you to bond, let you get to know each other on a personal level, and enjoy stunning views.
Artistic Adventure
Explore the world of art and culture by visiting a local art gallery or museum. Bond over captivating artworks or historical artifacts, and discuss your interpretations and impressions, fostering connections.
Embrace Culinary Connection Cooking Adventure
Ignite your culinary creativity by cooking a meal together. Mutually decide on a recipe, shop for ingredients, and enjoy a fun-filled culinary adventure. It will get your relationship going – if its meant to be.
Immerse Yourself in a Local Festival
Lose yourselves in the vibrancy of local festivals or community events. Whether it’s a music festival, food fair, or cultural celebration, these events offer a dynamic backdrop for shared experiences and exciting conversations. Isn’t that just what you want?
Do A Game-Night
Order a takeout from your favorite restaurant and opt for a cozy indoor date by playing board games or tackling challenging puzzles together. Engaging in friendly competition and collaborative problem-solving can reveal aspects of each other’s personalities you wouldn’t know otherwise. Plus, it’s really fun and can help break the ice.
The Takeaway
Remember that first dates don’t have to follow the same time-old script of watching a movie and then having dinner.
So, ditch the dinner-and-movie routine, step out of your comfort zone, and get creative.
After all, the best connections are often forged, and memories are made when you dare to be different and embrace the unexpected. Happy dating!

I always think a picnic is a good idea. It’s casual and it involves eating 🙂 I also like the idea of an artistic adventure but I never meet men who like art LOL. Thanks for sharing!

Love these unique ideas outside of dinner and a movie. Enjoyed reading!
I like the ‘Immerse Yourself in a Local Festival’ one! My ex and I had our first date at a local Ice Festival, and it was a lot of fun! Not only was there lots to see and do, but I got to see how he acted and talked to other people as well. We knew a lot of people at the festival, which made it a little more comfortable (and a bit more awkward). All in all, a great date idea for people who want a fun and low-pressure date where there is never a dull moment!
